A collective created for (and by) femmes in the Asian music scene aimed at facilitating conversations and actions that uplift our voices and efforts.
Founded by Asian Pop Weekly founder Jocelle Koh upon the media platform’s 15th anniversary, Fluffle represents a culmination of countless conversations and experiences at industry level which reflect a clear gap in support and discourse around womens’ issues in Asian music.
Derived from the name for a herd of wild rabbits, both Western and Eastern symbolism have historically portrayed rabbits as somewhat problematic creatures. While Eastern culture often portrays rabbits as a sign of weakness and fragility, in Western roman mythology, Rabbits are seen as a symbol of fertility, rebirth and resurrection. We’re here to flip the script; to claim strength in numbers; and to highlight the contributions of fem-presenting voices to the Asian music industry.
Fluffle is here to show that when femmes come together in community, we have the ability to create a fertile breeding ground for creativity and empowerment that encourages the growth of the industry into a safer, inclusive, more creative space for all.
We intend to break bamboo ceilings through the creation of educational content and resources, establishment of support and mentorship networks, and creation of strategic partnerships within our community.
